Dr. Cooksey's Headshot

Adrian C. Cooksey-Wilson joined the Florida Department of Health in September 2002. She was appointed administrator for the Florida Department of Health in Gadsden County in August 2015. 

Dr. Cooksey previously served as epidemiology and surveillance unit manager (2010-2013) and state administrator for the Department’s STD and Viral Hepatitis Program (2013-2015).  

Her public health interests include community engagement and leveraging data to improve health outcomes.

A native of Louisiana, Dr. Cooksey graduated from Dillard University in New Orleans with a bachelor’s in community health/physical therapy. She obtained her graduate degree at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University with a master’s in public health and a doctorate in epidemiology and biostatistics.

In her spare time, she enjoys teaching the future leaders of public health at several universities and participating on community boards that support meaningful public health service delivery.
